Yeyo's for Arkansas Times | Northwest Arkansas Editorial Photography
I always value my time working with people in the food service industry, especially Chefs. For a Chef to take precious time out of their prep work to accommodate a photographer in their own restaurant space is the kindest of gestures. And that’s exactly what Chef Rafael Rios of Yeyo’s did for me recently, when Arkansas Times hired me to photograph him and his space for a magazine article. Prior to the shoot, Chef Rios told me to “Come Hungry”.
And so I did, eating a light dinner the night before and nothing until lunch the next day, which was when we were scheduled for the shoot. And after the shoot, I was so full of delicious authentic Mexican food that I didn’t eat dinner that night or breakfast the next morning. Chef Rios is extremely gifted, both in the creation of delicious food, and also, in making sure that everyone who dines in his restaurant knows how much he appreciates it. It’s not uncommon for him to drift from table to table, introducing himself to newcomers or chatting with regulars.
