2015 Rogers Cycling Festival | Northwest Arkansas Commercial Photography
Last weekend, I had the opportunity to photograph the Annual Rogers Cycling Festival. Had I been in better shape, I probably would've tried to participate in a couple of the races. But I've been working a lot lately and I'm in no shape to race a bike, so I was happy to bounce around and make interesting images of the cyclists. In the past, the festival has drawn road cyclists and enthusiasts alike. There is the traditional Race For The Spike where participants race a train. Those who complete the course and make it back to the downtown area before the train does receive a coveted railroad spike award. There's also the family-friendly Poker Ride where participants ride from station to station drawing cards and then, returning to compare poker hands for the chance to win prizes.
This year however, the event was much bigger. With the addition of the Lake Atalanta Mountain Bike Trails, the festival was able to add two mountain bike races to the event. And on Sunday, there was an additional race, The Walnut Valley Road Race where cyclists raced distances of up to 60 miles along a beautiful but hilly course. And with the continued development of Lake Atalanta, the new bike park in the downtown rogers area and the overall growing interest of cycling in our area, it's easy to see that this event will just keep growing and growing. Here's a few images from the weekend. Enjoy!
