The Absolute Best of 2014 | The Thomas Twins

3 weeks into the new year, we made a very BOLD STATEMENT. And while we knew we were going to become parents in 2014, it was only the day before we made that bold statement that we found out we were actually going to be the parents of twins. Things got even crazier around Father's Day when while we were out of town shooting weddings, we had to rush to the hospital after Kristen's water broke prematurely. After 10 days in the hospital, The Thomas Twins arrived and since then, our lives have been all kinds of crazy and awesome. For all of you wondering how we are handling life with two kiddos, here's a little update as well as some of our favorite images and videos of The Thomas Twins from the year.

We had been wanting to do maternity photographs for awhile. Unfortunately, Arkansas racked up quite a few snow days and so Kristen wasn't out of school until a week into June. Fortunately, we were able to make a trip the week before all the craziness ensued to create some images.

This is where we found ourselves in the very early morning hours of June 15th, 2014 and for the 6 weeks that followed.

Ready to meet my kids.

It gets real when they write your kids names on the board.

The best part of my 2014 is pictured here.

Weston Michael Thomas. Named after Michael Westin, the main character in a Tv show called Burn Notice (which we love). Kristen couldn't bear to name him directly after the character so we switched the first and middle names around and changed the spelling of Westin to Weston.

Summer Joy Thomas. Named because "Summer Joy" is the happiest name we could think of.

Sink Baths. Weston loved every minute of it.

Sink Baths. Summer loved having her hair washed. Everything else resulted in very loud protests.

For awhile, they were content to hang out in the hospital and look at each other.

But after a few weeks, we began to see that they were ready to leave.

Summer was the first to be discharged from the hospital. She hung out at our hotel waiting on her brother.

Three days later, I was allowed to check my son out of the hospital. It was without a doubt, one of the greatest days of my life.

First photos in the studio.

But I'm a much bigger fan of the candid moments, the moments you can't plan or create, just capture.

Fist Bumps for sleep. In case you're wondering, the twins sleep through the night. Both of them. We feed them at 10 or 10:30 and they sleep until at least 6am or later. We are truly blessed. (knocking on wood as I type this)

Hooray for (somewhat) solid foods!

Much to Kristen's dismay, he LOVES watching television. But we've found that he's especially interested in HGTV shows.

Sweet Summer has a major surgery scheduled for 2015. We found out recently that she has Craniosynestosis. Fortunately, it is not affecting the growth of her brain, just the shape of her head. Summer always finds a reason to smile, even in the waiting rooms of the hospital.

Thanks to our WONDERFUL nanny who also happens to be a photographer, we were presented with some framed images of our kiddos at Christmas. We could not have been more touched. Thanks Jessika!
