Africa 2013 | The Journey Begins
Tomorrow, we leave on a jet plane. And then, we take another jet plane and then, ANOTHER jet plane and some 2 days after having boarded the first jet plane, we'll arrive on the other side of the world. For those of you who follow us or are familiar with our work, you've probably already guessed that after traveling on that many jet planes, we'd arrive somewhere in the vicinity of Africa. And you'd be correct.
My previous trips to Africa have been some of the hardest and yet, most rewarding experiences of my life. Words really do not describe the experience of working and emotionally stomaching the 3rd world. I’ve never been around so much poverty and yet, so much joy in all my life. And this year, I’m excited that my other (and oftentimes better half) Kristen is accompanying me on the journey. Together, we'll be spending a total of 20 days overseas, most of them working with an organization called Every Orphan's Hope. I will be documenting the organization's work with my cameras and Kristen will be giving sewing lessons and also, teaching a bit of basic photography to the kiddos. We'll also be taking some time to explore Europe on the return trip, something we've both wanted to do for awhile now. I realized though, that I have never officially posted any images of Africa here on our blog. So in honor of our trip, I decided to share a few of my favorite images from years past.
As of now, our automatic email responders are on and we're busy making last minute preparations for our departure. As has been the case in the past, internet (at least in Africa) will be scarce but we'll try our best to keep you all updated on our adventures and travels. For the most part, we'll see you again around the 1st part of August. Cheers everyone, and thank you all for your kind words and your support.
